Elephants in the Addo Elephant National Park

The Addo Elephant National Park, 11,500 hectares of dense bush, was proclaimed in 1931 to protect the last 11 elephants in the region. The Park now offers sanctuary to 180 elephants, the last Cape buffalow, the very scarce Kenyan black rhino, eland, kudu, hartebeest, bushbuck and a variety of birds, including the ostrich and the unique flightless dung beetle.

 

The Park also offers an illuminated waterhole, various accommodation units and camping sites, a restaurant, bird viewing hide in the restcamp, day and night game drives and a 3 to 4 hour walking trail. The access road to the restcamp from the main road is tarred, all roads in the park are gravel.

Accommodations at Addo National Park
All units are serviced daily and have electric lights, beds with foam matresses, bedding, towels, soap, cooking and eating utensils.
• (2) 6-bed Guest Houses with fully equipped kitchen and 2 bedrooms, one with
  en-suite bath and one with en-suite shower.
• (1) 4-bed Family Chalet with partially equipped open plan kitchen and one
  bedroom with en-suite bathroom.
• (22) Chalets with 2 single beds, double sleeper couch, bathroom with bath and
  shower, and basically equipped kitchen with cooking and eating utensils.
• (1) 2-bed Chalet with shower and basically equipped kitchen with cooking and
  eating utensils.
• (6) 2-bed Rondavels with 2 single beds, shower, fridge, using communal
  kitchen facilities with basic kitchen equipment.
• (10) Forest Cabins with 4 single beds, bathroom with shower and kitchenette with
  basic cooking and eating utensils.
• (20) Caravan and Camping sites with 220V power points using communal kitchen
  and ablution facilities. A maximum of 6 persons, one caravan, sidetent and
  vehicle, or one tent and vehicle, or one motorized caravan with sidetent per site.

Cancellations:
• Up to 30 days before visit - full refund
• 30 to 15 days before visit - 75% refund
• 14 to 7 days before visit - 50% refund
• Less that 7 days before visit - no refund
• A R50 processing fee will be charged for cancellations.
