Sodwana Bay National Park
Sodwana Bay National Park is situated within the Greater St Lucia Wetland Park. It is an area renowned for its sport fishing, scuba diving and snorkeling.

How to get there
From the north, turn off the North Coast Road (N2) at Jozini and follow the signposts through Mbazwana to the park, about 79 km on a gravel road.
From the south, turn off at the N2 at the Ngweni/Sodwana Bay off ramp. The park is 80 km from here through Mbazwana on a gravel road.
Accommodation at Sodwana Bay National Park
Chalets
Ten five-bedded units and ten eight-bedded units are available. These units are fully-equipped and serviced.
Campsites
Open campsites are available. The campsites vary in size and when booking, the description and size of camping equipment should be indicated. The campsites are all demarcated and numbered and visitors may only occupy the site(s) allocated to them.
33 campsites with water and electricity are available in the Gwalagwala Campground. Visitors must bring their own tents, caravans and camping equipment.
Water
The water is treated at a purification plant and is fit for human consumption. Taps are situated near all the campsites.
Showers
Hot and cold water is available in all the showers. In the Gwalagwala camp, baths are provided in the ablution block for ladies only.
Co-operation in helping to save water would be appreciated.
Toilets
These all have septic tanks.
Visitor Amenities
If you enjoy the sea, the variety of activities available will suit your needs. The diversity of fish and invertebrates on Africa's southern-most coral reefs attract many scuba divers and there are excellent snorkeling spots along this coast.
Within the marine reserve ski boaters and shore anglers have the opportunity to catch a number of different game fish. Sodwana has produced record billfish and sailfish.
During the summer months the loggerhead and leatherback turtles come out of the sea at night to nest on the beaches. Turtle tours are provided for camp residents during December and January. Departure times vary with the tide.
There is one self-guided trail - Ngobeseleni trail (±5 km)
Vehicles with a permit are allowed on the beaches, except on the swimming beach. Permits are required to travel between White Sands and Mabibi. These may be obtained at the Sodwana Bay beach entrance at 16:00 on the afternoon before the journey.
Facilities and Commodities
Boat and Caravan storage
Applications for boats and caravans to be stored in the park may be made at the office.
Community Hall
An attractive rondavel-type community hall is available at a nominal fee for approved functions.
Food and Bait
A well-stocked supermarket from which tinned food, bread, meat, patent medicines, beach equipment, etc. may be purchased and is situated in the resort. A variety of bait is also available.
Fuel
Fuel and oil are available in the park.
Plug Points
82 plug points for refrigerators and freezers only are available for hiring in the the resort and must be reserved with reservation.
Ice
Is sold daily whenever available.
Notice:
The nearest doctor and bank is in Hluhluwe (102 km away by road). The nearest post office and garage is in Mbazwana (19 km away). A first-aid room is available in the park for the stabilization of seriously injured people.

No pets are allowed in the park.
Please ensure that all possible precautions against theft are taken at all times.
Firearms must be declared on arrival at the reception office. Safety deposit boxes are available for hire to safeguard firearms and valuables.
The board's freezer are not available for public use.
No electrical appliances or equipment may be plugged into the mains supply, except in the plug point room, where only the deep-freeze units are available for visitors to use.
Permits are required for vehicle access to the beach. Vehicles may not be used on the beach between Sodwana Bay and Cape Vidal as an alternative route or as a thoroughfare.
Air compressors may not be used on the campsites. A facility is available at the beach.
Portable generators may not be used in the park.
Visitors are advised to take malaria precautions before, during and after a visit at Sodwana Bay.
Entrance gates are open 24 hours.
