| After the Anglo-Boer War in 1902, Lord Milner, administrator of the Transvaal, established an unsuccessful farming community in the area, on small 40 hectare farms for Boer and British war veterans. The land was sold to a farmer syndicate in 1914, planting citrus and pine tree plantations. The development of the area received a boost when the railway line from Nelspruit reached White River in 1926. White River is an excellent base to explore the Drakensberg escarpment area and for visits to the Kruger National Park. |
